Professor Geoffrey P. Miller

Geoffrey Parsons Miller is the Stuyvesant Comfort Professor of Law at New York University. A graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Law School (where he was editor-in-chief of the law review), Miller served as a judicial clerk to United States Supreme Court Justice Byron R. White. After working at a private law firm and as an attorney-adviser in the Justice Department's Office of Legal Counsel, Miller joined the faculty of the University of Chicago Law School, where he served as Associate Dean and Director of the Program in Law and Economics. Miller came to NYU Law School in 1995. A founder of the Society for Empirical Legal Studies and of NYU Law School's Program on Corporate Compliance and Enforcement, Miller is author or editor of more than a dozen books and 200 research papers. Miller is Chief Reporter for the American Law Institute's principles of compliance project, and serves as faculty director or co-director of NYU's Center on Civil Justice, Program on Corporate Compliance and Enforcement, and Center for Financial Institutions, and is audit committee chair and a member of the risk and compensation committees of State Farm Bank. Miller was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2011.
