Sophie L'Helias and Reena Aggarwal Join the Board of Directors of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI)

The European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) is delighted to announce the appointment of Sophie L'Helias and Professor Reena Aggarwal to the Board of Directors. They were appointed to the Board by the General Assembly on 28 October 2021, replacing Lisa Rabbe and Daniela Weber-Rey, who had each served on the Board for nine years. The General Assembly recognised the valuable contributions of Ms. Rabbe and Ms. Weber-Rey together with Lucrezia Reichlin, former Chair of ECGI, who also stepped down in 2021, as previously announced.

Sophie L’Helias is a corporate governance and ESG expert with extensive experience in shareholder activism. She is President of LeaderXXchange, a purpose-driven advisory that promotes diversity and sustainability in governance, leadership and investment, and creator of an award-winning search engine that tracks gender diversity in leadership in companies around the world.  She serves on the Board of Kering, Herbalife, Agence France Locale as well as Africa50, Echiquier Positive Impact funds and the Haut Comite de Gouvernance des Entreprises. 

Reena Aggarwal is the Robert E. McDonough Professor of Finance and Director, Center for Financial Markets and Policy at Georgetown University. She specializes in ESG and corporate governance, institutional investors, market regulation, investment banking, initial public offerings and private equity. She serves on the Board of Cohen and Steers, New York Life Investments IndexIQ, and Nuveen Churchill Direct Lending Corp. Her research and analysis is regularly cited in mainstream media. She is an ECGI research member and until recently, she was an active member of the ECGI Research Committee.

Referring to the news, ECGI Chair Herman Daems, said,
