Nadya Malenko Named Editor of The ECGI Finance Working Paper Series
ECGI is delighted to announce the appointment of Prof. Nadya Malenko as the new editor of the ECGI Finance Working Paper Series. Prof. Malenko will succeed Prof. Mike Burkart, who has led the series with distinction for the past five years.
Prof. Malenko, a leading academic in the field of corporate finance and governance, is a professor of finance in the Seidner Department of Finance at the Boston College Carroll School of Management. A past winner of the ECGI Working Paper Prize (2022), Prof. Malenko's work is widely recognised, appearing in top academic journals and media outlets. She is the recipient of several awards, including the Journal of Finance Distinguished Paper Brattle Prize and best paper awards from leading academic conferences. Her research focuses on key governance issues such as board decision-making, shareholder voting, and corporate governance mechanisms.
ECGI is immensely grateful to Prof. Burkart for his dedicated service and leadership of the Finance Series over the last five years. The ECGI Working Paper Series, which includes both law and finance tracks, is known for publishing rigorous studies from scholars around the world, serving as a vital resource for academics, policymakers, and practitioners alike. From humble European beginnings in 2002, the series has expanded not only in volume, but also in terms of contributors, regional focus, and research topics. This has been driven by an improved understanding of corporate governance, renewed importance, and a growing demand for research on the governance of companies, investment stewardship, and more recently on ESG, as these areas increasingly impact our lives and environment.
Commenting on the news, ECGI's Executive Director, Prof. Marco Becht said;
"The ECGI Working Paper Series is the cornerstone of ECGI's activities. I extend my great personal thanks to Mike Burkart for his steadfast leadership and to Nadya Malenko for accepting this vital role within our network."
Nadya will join colleagues on the ECGI Finance Editorial Board comprising Renée Adams, Franklin Allen, Julian Franks, Mireia Giné, and Marco Pagano. The Editorial Board collectively decides the prize for the best paper in the series. The annual prize is currently sponsored by Intesa Sanpaolo.
