Research Fellow (100%) – IMD Global Board Center 

 

The Job’s mission 

The Research Fellow will interact with the Board Center’s Director, and the Board Center team in developing the Center’s research strategy and setting research objectives (www.imd.org/board/board-center/). The Research Fellow will execute all research projects coordinating the necessary activities of other researchers associated with the Center. The Research Fellow will be responsible for the writing of practitioners articles, case studies, literature reviews and academic papers, and for ensuring the successful completion of the publication process. In addition, his or her tasks can include the design and execution of governance reviews, the development of research methodologies, the building of relevant surveys, the processing and analysis of data, and the write-up of reports. 

The IMD Global Board Center Research Fellow will therefore be a key contributor of the Center’s strategy. 

Key activities & accountabilities 

•    Produce academic papers, practitioners articles, reports and other forms of output 

•    Analyse and draw insights from qualitative and quantitative data in a structured manner 

•    Conduct and write up interviews with board members and senior executives 

•    As applicable, present research to media and groups of executives 

•    Work collaboratively with other researchers within the Global Board Center, and from external research providers and/or partners Ideal profile 

•    PhD degree in Management or Finance or a related discipline incorporating elements of qualitative and quantitative research ideally on corporate governance topics 

•    Record of publishing in peer reviewed journals 

•    Keen and demonstrable interest in corporate governance or other closely associated subjects 

•    Knowledge of empirical research methods, like interview and survey design 

•    Knowledge of statistics packages like ATLAS.ti, NVivo or equivalent (for qualitative research) and/or SPSS, Stata, SAS, JMP or equivalent (for quantitative research) 

•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

•    Social media knowledge for studies and communication are a plus 

•    Strong organizational skills (multiple projects will be running concurrently) 

•    Ability to work independently and proactively with minimum supervision 

•    Deadline and results oriented 

•    Ability to work well under pressure 

•    Flexible (heavy workload during peak periods and some travel required) 

•    Full fluency in English (written and spoken) at a native level or equivalent. Other languages are a plus 

•    Excellent English writing skills and experience writing for executive audiences
