ECGI Welcomes New Patron and Institutional Members
ECGI is proud to announce the support of a new patron member, three new institutional members and a new academic institutional member. The global asset manager, BlackRock has become the third patron member of ECGI through its commitment as a patron of the European Corporate Governance Research Foundation (ECGRF). The ECGRF was launched in 2013 by the founding patrons, Investor AB and BP plc., making it possible for ECGI to develop its activities and operations in recent years. The patrons of ECGRF make philanthropic donations of EUR 50,000 annually in support of independent evidence-based research. They are awarded patron member status of ECGI.
Additionally, ECGI relies on the subscription income from its members, most notably from the contributions made by the institutional members and academic institutional members who currently contribute annually EUR 2,500 and EUR 2,000 respectively. The most recent institutions to join ECGI are Deloitte, Davide Campari-Milano S.p.A., Uría Menéndez and the University of Virginia (UVA Law and the Darden School of Business | The Richard A. Mayo Center for Asset Management).
As a non-profit academic network supporting independent research around the world, ECGI is grateful to all of its partners for recognising the importance of evidence-based research in shaping the debate on corporate governance topics. Their support of the ECGI network allows for the continued dissemination of research for the public good, while their engagement facilitates a mutual dialogue and greater impact on a global scale.
Speaking about the new memberships, Prof. Marco Becht (Executive Director, ECGI) said: “The addition of such high quality members to the ECGI network is not by accident. It is an endorsement of the level of scholarship and debate that is conducted by ECGI Research Members and Fellows around the world and it is a commitment to the ongoing improvement of corporate governance standards worldwide. ECGI is very grateful for the contribution of all its members in whatever form this may be."
