Professor Candido Paz-Ares
Biography
Professor Candido Paz-Ares is Professor of Commercial Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid where he was Dean of the Law School between 1997 and 2000.
He is a permanent member of the General Commission of Codification (Comisión General de Codificación), the consultative body of the Spanish Ministry of Justice. He was a member of the Olivencia Committee, charged by the Spanish Government with the task of drafting a Code of Good Corporate Governance (the 'Olivencia Report'). He is also member of the OECD/IFS Core Group which currently drafts the Corporate Governance White Book for Latin America.
He has published extensively in the area of corporate law and law & economics. Professor Paz-Ares is a graduate in law form the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He holds a doctorate (dr. iur) from the Università degli Studi di Bologna (Italy).
