Professor Mathias Kronlund

Dr. Mathias Kronlund is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago in 2011 and holds an M.S. in Industrial Engineering & Management from AALTO University, completed in 2006.

Before joining the University of Illinois, Dr. Kronlund gained experience at McKinsey & Company in 2005 and the Finnish Broadcasting Company from 2001 to 2004. His research interests include corporate finance, mutual funds, and executive compensation. His work has been published in leading academic journals, such as the Review of Financial Studies and the Journal of Financial Economics.

Dr. Kronlund actively contributes to the academic community, serving on the Program Committee for the Society for Financial Studies Cavalcade from 2016 to 2024 and as a referee for top-tier journals, including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Review of Finance, and Management Science.
