Mr George S. Dallas

George Dallas serves as Head of Content at the European Corporate Governance Institute, a global academic-led network that promotes leading edge research and scholarship relating to corporate governance.  He is also Training and Education Advisor at the International Corporate Governance Network, where he serves as a member of ICGN’s training faculty,  both designing and teaching ICGN's flagship Governance, Stewardship and Sustainability training programme.

From 2014-2022  George  served as Policy Director at ICGN, where he coordinated ICGN’s governance polices and committees, and led ICGN’s policy development and regulatory outreach on behalf of investor members whose assets under management were over US$77 trillion. He was responsible for oversight of ICGN guidance statements, Viewpoint reports, public comment letters and broader thought leadership to promote ongoing governance reform and best practice by both companies and investors. 

George is an Assessor on the Cambridge Governance for a Sustainable Future Facilitation Team at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and served on the advisory board supporting the course's development. He  is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Corporate Governance Institute of the Frankfurt School of Finance. 

From 2014-2019, George was a Visiting Lecturer at Bayes (formerly Cass) Business School, University of London, where he taught MSc and executive education courses in corporate governance.  In addition, George works as an independent advisor; past projects include an assignment for the World Bank to develop a stewardship code in Kenya, a study of European Union corporate governance policy on behalf of the CFA Institute and teaching executive education courses in governance at the London Stock Exchange Academy. He is former Chair of Orlando Chamber Choir, a London-based registered charity.

Previously, George served as Director of Corporate Governance at F&C Investments (now part of Columbia Threadneedle Asset Management) in London, where he led F&C’s global policies relating to corporate governance, including proxy voting and engagement matters. He represented F&C in several professional organisations, including the Investment Committee of the Association of British Insurers and the Corporate Governance Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. 

Prior to joining F&C George was a Managing Director at Standard & Poor’s, where he held a range of managerial and analytical roles in New York and London over a 24-year period, including as region head of Standard & Poor’s European credit rating operations, head of its London office, global head of emerging markets and as global practice leader of S&P’s governance services unit. He served on the boards of S&P affiliates in France and Spain. George began his career in corporate banking at Wells Fargo Bank in San Francisco. 

George is published widely in the fields of finance, corporate governance and responsible investment, including the books Governance, Stewardship and Sustainability (second edition, Routledge, 2022) and Governance and Risk, (McGraw-Hill, 2004). 

George holds a BA degree, with distinction, from Stanford University and an MBA from the Haas School of the University of California at Berkeley.
