Biography

Annette B. Poulsen holds the Augustus H. “Billy” Sterne Chair in Banking and Finance. Dr. Poulsen joined the faculty of the Terry College of Business in 1987 after serving as the Deputy Chief Economist and Acting Chief Economist at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Dr. Poulsen is a well-cited researcher in corporate control and corporate governance and has received two “All-Star Paper” awards from the Journal of Financial Economics, one of the discipline’s top journals. Her present research concentrates on international finance, corporate governance and methods of going public, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Dr. Poulsen was the managing co-editor of the Journal of Corporate Finance from 2000 to 2017. She was recently recognized as the 2014 Distinguished Scholar by the Southern Finance Association. Dr. Poulsen teaches undergraduate and Master of Business Administration students and has participated in the college’s study abroad programs.
