Biography

Michael is an Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior and Human Resources at Singapore Management University’ Lee Kong Chian School of Business. Michael’s research examines social and human sustainability, with particular emphasis on social inequality (power, status, gender), employee well-being and productivity, and decision making in organizations. His research has been published in leading journals, such as Organization Science, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Psychological Science, among others. His work has received numerous awards from the Academy of Management, the International Association for Conflict Management, and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, and has been featured in outlets such as Harvard Business Review, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, CNN, The Guardian, BBC, and The Economist. Michael teaches leadership and negotiations at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive level. Michael holds a PhD from INSEAD, a Master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of St. Gallen. Prior to his academic career, Michael was a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group.
