ABOUT THE EVENT
The John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance and the Department of Finance at the Lerner College of Business and Economics, at the University of Delaware, hosted its 2022 annual corporate governance symposium online in collaboration with the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI).
The symposium featured the two winning papers of the 2022 John L. Weinberg/IRRCi Research Paper Award competition which highlighted innovative research and includes an award of USD 10,000. It focused on ESG-related topics (broadly defined).

This research competition is the successor to the IRRCi Investor Research Paper Award, which had become a prominent award garnering significant attention amongst the investment community, academia and policymakers. The John L. Weinberg/IRRCi Research Paper Award, as its predecessor did, highlights innovative research. Details of last year's programme and award winners are available here.
The winning papers, "Is History Repeating Itself? The (Un)predictable Past of ESG Ratings" (Florian Berg (MIT), Kornelia Fabisik (Frankfurt), and Zacharias Sautner (Frankfurt)) and "Bargaining with Private Equity: Implications for Hospital Prices and Patient Welfare" (Tong Liu (Wharton)) were presented and discussed together with the eight semi-finalist’s papers for the prize.
