Biography
Laura Bottazzi is a Professor of Economics at Bologna University. She is a Fellow of the Innocenzo Gasparini Institute for Economic Research (IGIER), Bocconi University, of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), London, and affiliated to AFFECT, the American Finance Association’s committee for women in Finance and to the Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession (CSWEP), the American Economic Association standing committee for the progress of women economists.
She is an expert of innovation, venture capital, firms financing and propagation of shocks, financial literacy.
She holds a BA from Bocconi University and a PhD from MIT.
In 2006, she won the NASDAQ Award for the best paper on capital formation presented at the 2006 meetings of the Western Finance Association. for her paper (with Marco Da Rin and Thomas Hellmann) 'The Role of Trust for investment: Evidence from Venture Capital'.
In 1998, she won the Hicks-Tinbergen Award for her paper (with Paolo Pesenti and Eric van Wincoop) ‘ Wage, profits and the international portfolio puzzle’
