Professor Kathryn Judge

Kathryn Judge is the Harvey J. Goldschmid Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. Her research focuses on financial regulation, intermediation, regulatory architecture, central banking and crisis governance. Judge is an editor of the Journal of Financial Regulation. She previously served as a member of the Task Force on Financial Stability co-sponsored by the Hutchins Center on Fiscal & Monetary Policy at the Brookings Institution and the Initiative on Global Markets at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and on Financial Research Advisory Committee of the Office of Financial Research. During her tenure on the FRAC, she co-chaired the LIBOR transition and financial innovation subcommittees. 

Judge is the author of Direct: The Rise of the Middleman Economy and the Power of Going to the Source (2022), in addition to her numerous academic articles and chapters. Prior to joining Columbia, Judge clerked for Judge Richard Posner of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and Justice Stephen Breyer of the U.S. Supreme Court. She is a graduate of Stanford Law School, where she earned the Urban A. Sontheimer Honor (second in class), and Wesleyan University.
