Hugues Bouthinon-Dumas is assistant professor of law at ESSEC Business School in Paris.
He teaches Business Law (banking and financial law, company law and criminal economic law) in the Master in Management program of ESSEC Business School. He is researcher at the European Centre of the Law and Economics.
He earned his Ph.D in Law from the University of Paris Dauphine in 2006. He is also ‘professeur agrégé de l’Université (Economics and Social studies) in France.
He studied law, economics and philosophy at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan and at the University of Paris-Nanterre. He graduated with a Master Degree in Philosophy of law at the University Paris II (Pantheon-Assas) and a Master Degree in Private Law at the University Paris I (Pantheon-Sorbonne). He was lecturer at the University of Johannesburg (Wits) and at the University of Capetown (UCT) in 1995-1996 and researcher at the University of Luxembourg in 2007-2008.
His PhD deals with the law of listed companies and the key role of the stock market. He addressed the legal conditions of market efficiency as well as the market value of the firms. His doctoral thesis Le droit des sociétés cotées et le marché boursier (The law of listed companies and the Stock Market), Préf. Philippe Didier, coll. “Droit & Economie”, L.G.D.J, 2007 was awarded several prizes. He has published numerous articles in the legal field, especially articles on the regulation of the markets.
His interest areas cover markets regulation, company law including corporate governance issues, Law & Management and legal theory.
