Hans-Joachim Böcking gained a degree in Business Economics, Goethe University Frankfurt, 1982; Ph.D. summa cum laude (Dr. rer. pol.), Goethe University Frankfurt, 1987; Habilitation (German post-doctoral degree), Goethe University Frankfurt, 1992.
From 1992 to 1993, Full Professor at University of Bielefeld, from 1993 to 1996 Full Professor at University of Hannover, from 1996 to 2000 Full Professor at University of Mannheim. Since 2000, Professor Böcking holds the Chair of Auditing and Corporate Governance, at Goethe-University Frankfurt.
His research activities include: national and international accounting, auditing, corporate governance, business valuation. Professor Böcking was an expert in the Government Commission on Corporate Governance (from 2000 to 2001), a member of the German Accounting Standards Board (from 2000 to 2003), a member of the Supervisory Board (from 2001 to 2007) and Chairman of the Audit Committee (from 2005 to 2007) of KPMG Germany and member of the Auditing and Accounting Board of the Institute of Public Auditors in Germany (from 2004 to 2009). Professor Böcking is member of the Consultative Working Group of ESMA’s Corporate Reporting Standing Committee in Paris, member of the Advisory Counsil of the Financial Reporting Review Panel, i.e. the German enforcement institution, in Berlin, member of the Task Commission and the Commission for Appeals of the Chamber of Public Accountants, Berlin, and member of the Academic Advisory Counsil of the German Institute for Share Promotion, Frankfurt.
