Biography
Erik Lidman is Professor of Company Law at Stockholm University and Co-Director of the Swedish Corporate Governance Institute. His research focuses on corporate governance in listed companies and capital market regulation, primarily employing a Law & Economics methodology. His current research projects examine, among other topics, market abuse and disclosure, the EU Capital Markets Union, takeovers, dual-class share structures, and corporate bond market regulation.
He teaches company law and securities regulation at bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels to both law and economics students, and currently supervises five doctoral candidates. He has also served as a consultant to numerous organisations and law firms, including the OECD, the World Bank, and the Swedish Corporate Governance Board. In addition, he is an editor of the Nordic Journal of Corporate Law, manager of the Corporate Governance Forum, and a board member of the Global Corporate Governance Colloquia and the Nordic Corporate Governance Network.
Beyond academia, Professor Lidman holds a number of prominent positions in the field of corporate governance and capital markets regulation. He serves as an executive of the Swedish Takeover Panel, is one of Sweden’s representatives in ESMA’s Takeover Bids Network, a member of the OECD Corporate Governance Committee, and Secretary to both the Nasdaq Stockholm Disciplinary Committee and the Swedish Corporate Governance Board.
