Mr Peter Butler

Peter Butler is a Founder Partner and was Chief Executive of Governance for Owners (GO) until 2012. He retains a substantial equity interest in the group, is a group board director and a significant investor in GO’s funds. He now has a part-time role which includes executive responsibility for the group’s investment and governance services operations in Japan. Prior to establishing GO, Peter was CEO of Hermes Focus Asset Management for six years, responsible for building the highly respected Focus Fund and Equity Ownership Services (EOS) teams. Before joining Hermes, Peter had over 20 years global experience in a wide range of industries as a senior executive, including seven years as a director of quoted companies. Peter frequently participates in seminars and conferences on stewardship worldwide. He is Chairman of Essex and Southend Sports Trust and serves on the General Committee of Essex County Cricket Club
