Biography

Paúl Noboa-Velasco is a partner at Equity, Abogados, and a full-time professor at the School of Law at San Francisco de Quito University, where he teaches Contract Law, Commercial and Corporate Law, Corporate Governance, and Corporate Insolvency Law. He holds an LLM in Corporate Law from University College London (UCL), where he graduated with Distinction.

Paúl's primary areas of practice and research include Contract Law, Commercial and Corporate Law, Corporate Governance, and Insolvency Law. Since 2020, he has played a key role in the modernization of corporate and insolvency legislation in Ecuador. He is a sought-after speaker and lecturer, having been invited to present at various institutions and universities across Ibero-America, and he has authored several articles on Corporate Governance and Insolvency Law.

Paúl also serves as the academic coordinator of the Ibero-American Institute for Law and Finance, where he contributed to the Spanish translation of the books Anatomy of Corporate Law and Principles of Financial Regulation. He is a member of INSOL International and the INSOL Early Researcher Academics (ERA) group and is a co-editor of LawyersEC magazine. Since 2022, he has been an external consultant for the World Bank, and during the summer of 2024, he served as a visiting academic at the Faculty of Laws at University of Oxford.
