Biography
Dharmendra Chatur is an LLM Candidate [Class of 2023] at the University of Chicago (Law School and Booth School of Business). Recipient of the Univ. of Chicago Merit Scholarship and Sajan Poovayya Scholarship for Advanced Legal Studies. He is on sabbatical from his full-time role as a Partner in the Dispute Resolution team at Poovayya & Co. Mr. Chatur is a litigator, arbitration and commercial mediation practitioner in the banking and finance, intellectual property, construction, antitrust, corporate and commercial, restructuring and insolvency areas of practice. He works closely with multiple law firms in the US, EU, and UK on cross-border, international and transnational commercial litigation and arbitration mandates. He has also advised clients and led strategy relating to legal proceedings before American federal and state courts and UK/EU commercial and appellate courts. He represents and advises clients on litigation and disputes before constitutional, appellate and trial courts; tribunals; and arbitrations across India and various parts of the world. He has a keen interest in academic legal writing, legal education, pro bono legal aid, public policy, and legal and judicial reforms. In addition to law practice, he frequently teaches at Christ, PES University and NLSIU. Licensed to practice law across India. Recognised and registered with the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, India, as a pro bono legal service professional.
