Biography
Peter is the Director of Corporate Governance & Stewardship at the ICAEW where he is responsible; thought leadership and policy in these areas.
Prior to joining the ICAEW, he was the Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer for several multinational enterprises headquartered in respectively the Netherlands, France and Japan.
Prior to these roles, Peter spent over 6 years at Transparency International UK (TI-UK) where set up the Business Integrity Programme.
At TI-UK Peter led the development of publications, including on managing supply chain risk, Incentivising Ethical Behaviour and on Responsible Corporate Political Engagement amongst others. He regularly provided expert input into standard setting initiatives such as the International Ethical Standards Board for Accountants, UN Global Compact and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). He also provided input into UK and French parliamentary consultations new legislation.
Whilst at TI-UK, Peter served on the advisory board of AIM Progress the European Brands’ ethical supply chain initiative.
Prior to Transparency International UK, Peter worked in corporate strategy and management consulting employed by organisations such as Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), Bertelsmann and Shell. He has worked with, advised and served on boards for over 20 years.
Peter is a frequent presenter at conferences and webinars and regularly speaks to international media on good governance and responsible business practices.
Peter conducts annual workshops and lectures on Ethical Decision Making for master’s in management students at the LSE and CEMS
Peter has postgraduate degrees in Corporate Governance & Business Ethics and in Economics, both from the University of London and a bachelor’s in Economics from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
