Biography

Jessica Östberg is an Associate Professor and course director of company law at Stockholm University. She is a board member of the Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law (SCCL) and since 2013 she is Head of the Research Panel for Company Law and Securities Law at the SCCL. Jessica Östberg is also, since 2017, a member of the Disciplinary Board of Public Accountants, which members are appointed by the Swedish Government. She obtained her doctoral degree in 2016 at the Stockholm University and was a Post Doc Fellow at the University of Oxford with an affiliation with Christ Church during 2017-2018. Her research has been focused primarily on the duties and liability of directors and shareholders and on Corporate Sustainability, especially in relation to the Swedish Corporate Governance System. Many of her projects have inlcuded comparative outlooks to American, English, German, Danish and Norweigan law. Before she started her academic career she worked as a lawyer for about ten years, with a focus on M&A and company law, and before that she held a position as a law clerk at the District Court of Stockholm.
