Professor Pierluigi Matera
Biography
Pierluigi Matera is full professor of Comparative Law at Link Campus University of Rome, where he is chair of Comparative Legal Systems and of Company Law. He is also professor of Business and Corporate Law at LUISS - Guido Carli, Rome. From 2016 to 2019 he served as Prorector and President of the Undergraduate and Graduate School at LCU; and from 2014 to 2016 as Head of the Law School. He began his academic career in LUISS (Rome) and later in University of Salerno - where he was assistant professor and lectured in Comparative Consumer Law. He holds a PhD in Comparative law and was visiting scholar, fellow or researcher in several international academic institutions, such as University of Cambridge and Queen Mary. Since 2010 he has been executive director of IDEMS (Centre of Research for Sports Law and Management). He also is barrister, qualified for supreme jurisdictions and member of the Rome Bar Association. He served as special commissioner or commissioner “ad acta” for several State agencies, companies or sports Federation, on appointment of Italian Government or Italian National Olympic Committee. He was Vice Prosecutor-General (first deputy) of Italian Sport and is one of the five members of the Sport Justice Reform Committee who drafted the Code of Sport Justice currently in force in Italy. His primary research interests are corporate law, comparative law and sports law.
