Dr Alexandros Rokas
Biography
Alexandros Rokas is specialized in the areas of corporate law, corporate governance, insolvency and restructuring. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Athens, LL.M. & PhD from the Humboldt University of Berlin and LL.M. from Harvard Law school. His thesis related to corporate governance as a mechanism to prevent corporate failures (supervisor: Prof. C. Paulus), while a recent book of his examines thoroughly the Greek pre-insolvency procedure.
Currently, he advises the Bank of Greece as a member of its Legal Department, as well as teaches Commercial Law at the Department of Economics of the University of Athens. Further, in 2015-16 he acted as a member of the committee established by the Greek Ministry of Justice to amend the Greek Bankruptcy Code. In 2013-14 he acted as a member of the Working Group established by the European Council to assess the Commission’s Amendment Proposal of the European Insolvency Regulation (No. 1346/2000). Finally, in 2013-14 he acted as a member of the Working Group established by the Greek Ministry of Development to amend the Greek law relating to the Sociétés anonymes (Law no. 2190/1920).
