Mr Alexandre Dergatcheff
Biography
Mr. Alexandre Dergatcheff is an investment professional with 28 years of experience across a number of internationally-recognised financial firms with a focus on Fund management, Hedge funds, Private equity, Hospitality, Hotels, Real Estate and Risk Management.
Mr Dergatcheff commenced his career as a financial analyst in 1996 with Exane, a leading French stockbroker. A year later, he was appointed portfolio manager at SanPaolo Asset Management and subsequently joined Oddo & Cie in Paris where he developed his expertise in stock picking within the equity research team. In 2003, he was given the opportunity to lead the French small and mid caps research team within the Investment Bank division of UBS in London. Here he was also trusted with the marketing of the French equity product among institutional clients in Europe and in the USA. Mr Dergatcheff left UBS in 2009 and co-managed the Eur1 billion hedge fund Exane Gulliver. In 2015, he joined the hedge fund manager Portsea AIFM as a Chief Risk Officer. Mr Dergatcheff has been also since 2015 Chairman of the House View Committee at Bank of Valletta supervising the portfolio strategy, forecasting and risk for all investment management functions within the BOV group (Malta’s largest bank with €14bn total assets). In 2020, he was appointed Managing Director of AX Global, a private equity firm focused on the European hospitality markets (hotels, serviced residences and villas). In 2023, Mr Dergatcheff was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of BOV Asset Management, a leading asset manager in Malta which manages a wide range of funds and provides investment solutions to retail and institutional clients.
Mr Dergatcheff earned an MBA from ESSEC Business School and a post graduate diploma in Banking and finance law from Sorbonne University. He lectured Money and Banking economics at Sorbonne University.
