Biography

Claudio Rojas is a seasoned business leader with 16 years of professional experience. As CEO of the National Angel Capital Organization, he leads 4,200 angel investors that have invested $1.38 billion into 2,000 entrepreneurial companies.

Mr. Rojas's research on founder centrism, featured by the University of Oxford, bridges the gap between scholarly inquiry and real-world application to investment. His innovative work, published in the University of British Columbia Law Review, integrates legal and economic analysis, with particular emphasis on the impact of ownership structure and governance on economic efficiency. He holds domain expertise in founder-oriented ownership structures and consumer-oriented technology – alongside an exceptionally long-term entrepreneurial mindset.

For more than a decade, Mr. Rojas has established a track record in identifying world-class founder centric companies, investing during periods of uncertainty, and successfully holding for the long term. His success is attribued to an investment methodology rooted in academic research, alongside the traditional value investing principles taught by Ben Graham at Columbia University in the 1930’s and espoused by Warren Buffett with much success in recent years. A forthcoming working paper, Eclipse of the Public Corporation: Concentrated Equity Ownership (CEO) Theory, reveals the economic basis for this outperformance, which extends beyond idiosyncratic stock selection abilities.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Rojas engaged in matters related to general corporate commercial law practice, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate finance at Dentons LLP (formerly, Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP). He has also advised on issues related to regulating reporting issuers and issuer-related policy initiatives at the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).

Claudio is a CFA Charterholder with an MBA from the Ivey Business School, JD from Western University in Canada, and is a lawyer member of the Bar of Ontario, Canada.
