Biography

Antonio Franchi is a partner in Studio Legale Bastianini Carnelutti, Milan Office. His practice focuses on civil, commercial and corporate law.


He advises Italian and foreign entities, including listed companies, in corporate and M&A matters, capital contributions in the form of transfers of businesses and shares, joint ventures, shareholders’ agreements, sale and purchase of real estate properties and commercial contracts.


Antonio specialises in corporate governance issues and also handles litigation in corporate law, directors’ liability, banking and insurance law.


He represents parties and acts as arbitrator in ad-hoc and administered arbitration proceedings (ICC and Chamber of Arbitration of Milan).


During the course of his career, Antonio has worked at premier Italian and International law firms.


He was adjunct professor of insurance law at the Faculty of Law, University of Milan-Bicocca, from 2007 until 2010, and has been a lecturer in advanced civil law and contract law at the Faculty of Law, University of Milan-Bicocca, since 2007.


He held an Academic Fellowship at the Faculty of Law, University College of London in 1998.


He is a member of the European Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA).


Antonio graduated with honors from the University of Siena in 1991. In 2003 he earned a Master’s degree in "Capital Markets Law" from the University of Milan and carried out a research program on Corporate and Banking Governance at the Law and Economics Department of Bank of Italy.


He was admitted to the Italian Bar in 1996 and has held rights of audience / representation before the Italian High Court since 2010. He is author of books and essays on Civil and Commercial Law, mainly on corporate governance and banking matters. He is a native Italian speaker and is fluent in English and French.
