As of 10 October 2010, the Netherlands Antilles consisting of five islands has been dissolved as a country. The former member islands of the Netherlands Antilles are now grouped in three separate countries: Curacao has become an autonomous country in the Kingdom of the Netherlands; St. Maarten has become an autonomous country in the Kingdom of the Netherlands; and the islands Bonaire, Statia and Saba have become special overseas municipalities of The Netherlands.<br /><br />
For Curacao and Sint Maarten, these guidelines are in force for financial institutions in both countries.<br /><br />
The corporate governance provisions of The Netherlands are now applicable to the other three islands, although Bonaire and Statia have corporate governance codes. However, these are not autonomous countries and fall under the constitutional jurisdiction of The Netherlands.
