Biography

Dr. Virginijus Bitė is a professor and director of the Institute of Private Law at Law School of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). He teaches company law subjects in English and Lithuanian languages for more than 15 years. As visiting professor, he has taught classes on various company law topics at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc, the University of Lisbon, the University of Warsaw, the American University of Central Asia, the University of Indonesia, etc.

He conducts research and publishes articles in the field of commercial and company law, especially on regulation of close (private) companies, duties and liability of directors, rights of shareholders. Prof. Virginijus Bitė has conducted research internships in several foreign research institutions (University of Cambridge, University of Tartu, University of Reykjavik, University of Oslo, Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Swiss Institute of Comparative Law, etc.). He is a member of editorial board of research journal “Jurispudencija” (MRU), as well as a Chairman of PhD Committee at MRU.

Moreover, V. Bitė is a legal practitioner since 2004 and attorney at law since 2008, as well as a Chairman of the Committee on Civil Law and Civil Procedure (2015-2018) and the Committee on Civil Law (since 2018) at Lithuanian Bar Association and recommended arbitrator at the Lithuanian Court of Arbitration.
