Dr. Stephan Madaus

Prof. Dr. Stephan Madaus has held his chair at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg since April 2014, where he was the head of the Law School from 2016 to 2018. He teaches property law (including secured transactions), insolvency and restructuring law, as well as contract and tort law. Prof. Madaus is a Member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Restructuring and Insolvency. He serves as a vice president of the International Insolvency Institute after co-chairing its Academic Committee from 2018 to 2021. Prof. Madaus is a Founding Member of the Conference of European Restructuring and Insolvency Law (CERIL).
