Biography

Dr. Axel Kravatzky is an executive and non-executive director with over 20 years of board-level experience across private and not-for-profit organizations in the purpose-driven financial services, professional services, and education sectors.


Axel is the Vice Chair of ISO/TC309 Governance of organizations. He is also the co-convenor and editor ISO/TC309/WG1 "ISO 37000 Guidance for the governance of organizations - Guidance" and project team leader of "ISO 37006 Indicators of effective organizational governance - Guidance".


Board levels experiences include director of UWC International for 8 years, Founding Chair of Caribbean Corporate Governance Institute (CCGI), Chair of Murphy Clarke Financial Ltd, NED at Reinsurance Company of Trinidad & Tobago (Trinre Insurance), and Dialogues Solutions Ltd.


A theme that runs through all his governance roles, is the leading and building of purpose-driven best in class corporate governance systems and practices. He is the Chair and Practice Lead for Governance and Strategy at Syntegra-ESG and was the executive in charge consulting services at Aegis Management Solutions.


Syntegra-ESG is a boutique consulting firm offering organizational consulting services primarily in the Caribbean, USA and Europe. At Aegis, he directed the technical consulting services of up to 24 consultants. His educational qualifications include a PhD from the London School of Economics & Political Science.


He has extensive experience in a wide range of experiential training and development methods and approaches for leadership, team, and director development. He helps organizations develop adaptive strategies and have specialized in enabling boards, executives to work with shareholders, stakeholders, as well as managers and staff to work together in the strategy process. His approach is highly ethical and values-based. This is evidenced by the energy, teamwork, and commitment that his leadership generates.


Within corporate and organizational governance he specializes in purpose-driven firm governance, state-owned enterprise (SOE) governance, governance of banks and financial service firms, recruitment and selection processes for board members, governance of SMEs - especially PE portfolio firms, and not-for-profit associations.


He helps organizations determine and implement good Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. He advises Benefit Corporations and others on how to measurably contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


Dr. Kravatzky believes organizations have a key role to play in creating a peaceful, just, and sustainable future.
