Biography
Prof. Alex Kostyuk is currently an Editor-in-Chief of the Corporate Ownership and Control journal and co-editor of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Review. He started an academic career having defended his PhD dissertation in corporate finance in 2001. In 2007 one more degree (DBA) was granted to Alex Kostyuk (Switzerland). Moreover, in 2009 another PhD degree in corporate governance in banks was granted to Alex Kostyuk (Ukraine).
Since 2002 Prof. Kostyuk has edited several books on corporate governance. Some of which have been devoted to the corporate governance in banks. Three other books have also been published with contributions by Alex. As the editor of six books Alex Kostyuk managed to establish groups of contributors consisting of more than 280 corporate governance experts from more than 50 countries of the world. Under Alex's initiative and participation, several international conferences in corporate governance have been arranged. These conferences were successfully organized in Taiwan (2008), Ukraine (2011, 2012), France (Tours, 2011), Finland (Helsinki, 2012). Several more conferences were managed by him in Italy (Pisa, 2012; Rome, 2013 and 2016; Milan, 2014), France (Paris, 2013, 2015 and 2016), Germany (2014, 2015, 2016), Hong Kong, Portugal.
Prof. Alexander Kostyuk is a member of the European Association of Science Editors (United Kingdom), The International Corporate Governance Society (United States), The Council of Science Editors (United States) and Association Académique Internationale de Gouvernance (France). Since 2017 - a Fellow of Seoul Corporate Governance Forum. Alex also serves as a reviewer for The Quarterly Journal of Economics, The Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Organizational Behavior and Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
In addition to his academic career Alex Kostyuk has received Full Professorship at the Ukrainian Academy of Banking of the National Bank of Ukraine (since 2009), and visiting Professorship at Hanken School of Economics (Since 2010). He was also a visiting professor at ISTEC (Paris), University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany).
Further outlooks of Alex Kostyuk are directed toward editorial activity, conference management, teaching corporate governance and consultancy on a board of directors, remuneration and general corporate governance. Since 2017 Alex Kostyuk is affiliated with Kristianstad University (Sweden).
