 GUY JUBB JOINS ECGI BOARD

The European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) held its Annual Members’ Meeting in Lausanne this week (27 -28 April), bringing together international academics and practitioners in the field of corporate governance for an informal dinner which preceded the AGM and annual lecture the following day at IMD Business School.

Amongst the proceedings, was the appointment of Guy Jubb, Honorary Professor at University of Edinburgh and former Global Head of Governance & Stewardship, at Standard Life Investments, to the board of ECGI.

Guy Jubb retired from Standard Life in 2016 after 30 years’ service. He serves on a number of global governing and advisory bodies and has played a leading role in developing and implementing best practice in corporate governance and stewardship, in UK and around the world. He was the recipient of ICSA’s Outstanding Achievement Award for 2015.

Having stepped down from the ECGI board in July 2016, Léo Goldschmidt, former Managing Partner at Bank Degroof, Belgium, and founding member of ECGI, was also recognised at the event for his significant contribution to the development of ECGI since its inception in 2002. Mr. Goldschmidt was instrumental in the establishment of the Global Corporate Governance Colloquia (GCGC) and also the European Corporate Governance Research Foundation (ECGRF) which are both closely associated with ECGI.

Speaking at the event, Professor Marco Becht, Executive Director, ECGI said:

While it is with a heavy heart that we mark the departure of Léo Goldschmidt from the ECGI board, we also extend a warm welcome to Guy Jubb who has been a long-standing member of ECGI. Léo has been a true father figure to our organisation and will continue to remain closely connected in the years ahead. We look forward to working with Guy and we are certain that his experience and knowledge will help ECGI to continue to develop its network around the globe.

Guy Jubb has been elected to the ECGI board until 2020.
