INVITATION AND CALL FOR PAPERS

SHoF-ECGI CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE FINANCE AND CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

The Swedish House of Finance (SHoF) at the Stockholm School of Economics and the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) are pleased to invite interested academics and practitioners to a conference on Sustainable Finance on October 16-17, 2020, in Stockholm.

Conference theme

The conference will bring together academics and investors, business people and policymakers to discuss recent research on a broad array of topics on sustainable finance. The programme will include a presentation by Harrison Hong, Columbia Business School in addition to a selection of recent research resulting from this call for papers.

The conference is scheduled in association with the ECGI 2020 Annual Members’ Meeting, which takes place in Stockholm on October 15. Conference participants are welcome to join the ECGI event, where Nobel Laureate Oliver Hart, Harvard University, will deliver the ECGI Annual Lecture.

Call for papers

We invite authors to submit high-quality research on financial and economic issues relating to sustainability and finance, including (but not limited to) such topics as:

- Stakeholders and sustainability: the purpose of business

- Corporate social responsibility & sustainable governance

- Sustainable investment and entrepreneurship in the innovation economy

- Impact investing

- Corporate Governance in the context of diverse investor preferences

- Climate and environmental risk management

- Utility over externalities in financial decision-making

- Sustainability in financial systems: stability and crises

- Socially responsible investment & sustainable indexing

Both empirical and theoretical papers are welcome. The conference organisers will provide accommodation as well as reimbursement for reasonable travel expenses for presenting authors and discussants.

Paper submission

Interested authors should e-mail their paper in Acrobat PDF format to Elisabeth Kempe, (Elisabeth.kempe@hhs.se) no later than March, 1, 2020. Programme decisions will be made shortly thereafter.

Attendees

The conference welcomes academic participants who are not on the programme, but cannot reimburse any expenses. There is no fee for the conference. However, attendance is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
