David Bellin, MBA, was chairman of AIM listed UK plc (SQS Software Quality Systems AG) and its 54% owned Indian subsidiary (SQS India BFSI Ltd) based in Chennai and listed in Mumbai, until March/May 2018. SQS AG was delisted in December 17 following a successful acquisition by Ardian (the leading global investment house headquartered in Paris) and merged with Assystem Technology, a previous Ardian acquisition, to create a new engineering and software services company with sales above $1billion. SQS provides a range of IT quality assurance services with a focus on digital strategy. Prior to his non-exec career David was involved in a number of successful start ups, most recently Racing UK Ltd a racecourse owned multi-media rights manager, and producer of live content.
His broadcast career encompassed HTV in Wales, Thames TV in London and other European and US news networks as a television reporter, political and financial correspondent, producer and programme editor before moving into management. He led a postgraduate medical education initiative broadcasting interactive live satellite symposia to European hospitals from start-up in 1992 to 2001. Through 2002/3 he worked in the Balkans and Ukraine on the commercial development of independent television companies supported by the United States Agency for International Development and the Soros Foundation/Open Society Institute, as part of their democracy building initiatives. David represented venture capital company 3iplc on the Board of a London facilities company prior to a successful MBO in 2004 and was an external media advisor to 3i in the UK and Asia. In 2004 he joined a consultancy client launching and branding “Racing UK”, a racecourse owned 24/7 horse racing channel where he stayed to help launch Turf TV, a specialist betting shop channel, in 2007; and to lead the company’s programme expansion and major investment in HD studios and Outside Broadcast facilities. He left Racing UK in April 2013.
